概要

1988年にシングル『だからその手を離して』とアルバム『B'z』の同時発売でデビュー[6]。1990年発売の5thシングル『太陽のKomachi Angel』で初のオリコンチャート1位を獲得し、同年発売の4thアルバム『RISKY』、1991年発売の8thシングル『LADY NAVIGATION』が初のミリオンセラーになるなど作品が次々とヒットしており[7]、これまでにシングル15作品、アルバム19作品がミリオンセラーとなっている。中でも、1998年発売のベスト・アルバム『B'z The Best "Pleasure"』は日本国内の音楽史上で初めて売上枚数が500万枚を突破したほか、同年発売の『B'z The Best "Treasure"』との2作品合計で約1000万枚の売上枚数を記録している[8]。2007年にはアジア圏のミュージシャンとしては初めて「ハリウッド・ロックウォーク（英語版）」に殿堂入りした[9][10]。
